Each of the wines from the 1865 line comes from its own selected vineyard planted with a specific variety. Each "single vineyard" is carefully managed in accordance with the conditions of its grape variety, soil and climate -or terroir- to produce wines with consistently unique personalities and quality.
1865 Malbec comes from our property in the Maule Valley. The vineyards were planted 15 years ago with a selection of old vine material. The Mediterranean climate features a broad differential between daytime and night time temperatures, and the poor, rocky soils of granitic origin naturally control plant vigor and produce crop loads of 6 tons per hectare. The result is an expressive Malbec with aromas of blackberries, black currants and other blck fruits, along with juicy and concentrated tannins.
